was just starting at a fremont business yesterday afternoon. they show flames shooting through the roof and a towering column of black smoke. the fire destroyed c & h enterprises on boggs terrace in fremont and some of the neighbors were told to stay indoors. cbs 5 reporter anne makovec is at the machine shop that burned in fremont with the very latest. good morning, anne. >> reporter: good morning. the smoke has cleared here but the investigation has yet to begin as you mentioned. investigators are expected to be here this morning. once they make sure that the building has been shored up, significant damage to the building that you can see here behind me. in fact, part of the roof chanced during that fire. here's that video from yesterday afternoon. it sent up a huge plume of black smoke when it started here at c & h enterprises at around 12:45 p.m. the company specializes in machining and welding precision parts. fire officials say a grinding operation involving metal shavings was under way when this broke out. the employees ran for their lives. everyone got out okay. then there was c

news station, this is the kron 4 news.the building houses a this was near fremont, and if the flames and a lot of smoke and the in golf. this is called the c a h enterprises. it is mainly industrial just off of mission boulevard near the 680 at boggs terrace charles clifford is a log. charles?. >> right now, this is right near boggs ave they have this year containment. add under control mobbing this up there are still fire fighters on the scene. making sure that the fire does not kick back up and also to the left there is a truck. so they can get to the top of the building. let me show you pictures. earlier, this started around 1:30. that large plume of smoke. there were on the scene that this was a big deal and they also upgraded this to a three-alarm fire and sprayed water on to it from outside instead of going into the building. it took them about one hour to get this building fire knocked down. the main concern because of the confederabecause of the-industrl scene it wanted to make sure that the people that were working nearby were aware of the dangers of that black smoke. >> whe

fremont. back to you guys. >> new this morning, a high- speed chase caused a chp patrol car to flip over in livermore. it happened just before 4 a.m. on eastbound 580 between greenville and north flynn roads. the officer was chasing the speeding car when the patrol car flipped. the driver sped away. other officers caught up to the car in tracy and then pulled it over. two officers in that flipped car were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. >>> also this morning, a car smashes into a fence next to a house in campbell in the middle of the night on central avenue. police say they tried to stop the car for a traffic violation. well, a chase began and then the car crashed. the driver got out and ran and was later caught. police now say the car involved was stolen. >>> it is 5:39. contra costa county supervisors will consider plans this week to close 4 more fire stations. the chief says it's all necessary after the failure of a parcel tax hike to fund the district. the county is looking at closing stations in walnut creek, clayton, martinez and lafayette to save about $3 million. >>> t
